Play along with Miss Caithness! Tuesday 24th March

24th Mar 2020

Every few days I hope to share an activity that I will have carried out in my house with you all. I will explain the learning behind the activity and will post photographs of each step. Everything I use is stuff that you would have about the house!

For today’s activity you will need a piece of cardboard (part of a box/cereal box), your favourite coloured markers/pencils/crayons (about 4) and 4 elastic bands (I didn’t have any elastic bands so I used hair bobbles!)

Before you start, look at your piece of cardboard. What shape is it? (Rectangle) How many sides/corners does your rectangle have? Can you count them? Look at the sides of your rectangle. There are 2 long sides and 2 short sides. Can you find the long side? Can you find the short side?

Now get your first colours and draw a line from 1 long side to the other long side and colour in that section. Have a go at doing this all by your self! Then use the roast of your colours to do the same. You should end up with your piece of cardboard having 4 coloured sections on it.

Get your bands and stretch each one onto a coloured section. Have a go at this to develop the muscles in your fingers. When all the bands have been placed on, give one a little pull! Did you hear the sound it made!!

Go for a hunt around your house now and see if you can find any toys/items that match the colours you have used and attach them to the cardboard using the bands.

Don’t forget to take a picture of your finished work and send it through on see saw to Mrs Dalzell and me. We can’t wait to see them!

Have fun!
