Music
Music and Ebrington go hand in hand- they always have.🤝🎼
With a treble clef in its school crest, Ebrington's musical ethos is worn on the heart of all of our pupils. Classroom singing; assembly praise; Junior and Senior Choir; instrumental and drumming lessons; the school Jazz band; class assemblies and school shows.... there are just SO many opportunities to get musically involved. Proud winners of School Choir of the Year in 2019, closely followed by a star appearance on Britain's Got Talent, this school certainly know how to shine in their music-making. Let's find out some more:
*Junior Choir 🎹
This meets on a Monday and is led by Music Co-ordinator, Mrs Armstrong and accompanied by Mrs Wasson. It consists of P3 and P4 pupils who are beginning their choral singing experience. Learning to stand still, follow the conductor, memorise lyrics and use facial expression are some of the very first learning intentions. Our first performances are often at our School Carol Service as well as singing at events in the local community. Junior Choir also like to compete at local competitions.
*Senior Choir 🎤
P5, P6 and P7 singers are led by Mrs Rachel Logue and accompanied by Mrs Wasson. Building on the performance skills acquired in Junior Choir, this choir learns to sing in harmony, with greater maturity and tonality in their singing. Senior Choir enjoy lots of engagements both locally and further afield. Their greatest achievements recently were winning School Choir of the Year and appearing on Britain's Got Talent!
*Jazz Band 🎺
Our brass and woodwind instrumentalists meet on a Tuesday afternoon with Mrs Armstrong. Here, 'Rainy Tacos', 'Oh When the Saints' and 'Blue Moon' are firm favourites. We love to prepare for Christmas performances in the local Church and also for special events in the school calendar. Each month, the school band also lead the 'House Points' song at assembly.
*Classroom Music 🎼
Classes are supported in their music-making by Mrs Armstrong who helps them to link their Topics to Music through songs and other cross-curricular activities. Junior classes also work towards Christmas performances, whilst Senior classes prepare Class Assemblies. P5, P6 and P7 also have drumming lessons with our much-loved tutor, Mr Ronan McKee. After each block of lessons, the classes perform to their parents and show off what they can do!
*School Shows
We have just finished a P6 and 7 production of Joseph and his Technicolored Dreamcoat. What an EXTRAVAGANZA it was! Catch up on the promotional videos to see more for yourself....
WE ARE SO PROUD OF TO BE THE SCHOOL OF SONG AND SOUND!🎵
